The story itself is interesting, continuing what halloween ii (1981) ended with, but the implementation is very poor. It is the seventh installment in the halloween series.

On halloween in 1963, michael myers murdered his sister, judith.
In 1978, he broke out to kill his other sister, laurie strode. He killed all of her friends, but she escaped. 20 years later (1998) free starring jamie lee curtis, josh hartnett, adam arkin and directed by steve miner. But why not just call it that?
Why add the h20 part? Firstly, surely they knew it made it sound like halloween water. Halloween 5 and 6 were absolutely hated, and the whole thorn plotline had driven the franchise into the worst corner, halloween was beyond a sad joke by this point. Donald pleasence had just passed away three years prior, and it was a huge deal that jamie lee curtis came back because everyone thought she was done with these movies forever.
The driving that bothers me is in halloween h20:
20 year later because he made a 1,994 mile trip successfully with zero citations or tickets. In the film michael drives from langdon, illinois to hillcrest academy in northern california in a daring feat that raises a lot of questions. H20 isn't nearly as bad as that, but i'd say it isn't that great. Certainly worse than the first few movies;
I'd say it's about on par with halloween 4. Maybe better in some ways, like having laurie back in the saddle and following up on the evil brother story. Prior to 2018, i always preferred to view the original film, halloween ii, and h20 as a trilogy. I still think h20 has the best climax of any of the films to date, especially the final scene with laurie hijacking the ambulance.
Halloween h20 was able to retain the classic halloween feeling, while also blending it with the 90’s slasher formula, following the success of scream.
I really hope they give h20 producer's cut the same treatment as the h6 producer's cut. I would love to see this in blu ray. Also, one of the screenshots of the first encounter between michael and laurie through the door on the website shows the theatrical cut mask rather than the knb mask. Halloween h20 is an overrated big pile of shit it has a boring/lazy story, an awful michael myers portrayal, atrocious mask(s), few and lame kills, a terrible soundtrack, an atmosphere with no suspense/creepiness, lack of autumn, bland characters, a dull direction/production, a horrible pacing, an stupid title and it's full of plot holes.
Scream imitated halloween (purposefully) so of course the are similar. Of all the films, halloween h20 is most like the og. Myers is a stalker, witty teen dialogue, less kills, more suspense, saves most of the kills for the end…. I don’t get how anyone says otherwise
