Let me expand on it. Most people who sit, they sit for comfort like a normal person. This causes a person to relax, chill, and feel comfortable. Now try sitting like l does for a long time and you will find that it gets uncomfortable after a short while.
According to the interview between light yagami and ryuzaki (l), l said that he can’t choose the way he sits, he has to sit that way. Otherwise, his own iq could drop down by 40%. I’m not sure how that really works, but ok. Ok is it just me or does anyone else feel like the design with near was lazy.

Apparently, obata (the illustrator of the manga) drew him like that because he pictures l as a clean freak, which is why he touches things with the least amount of fingers as possible. It could be that he honestly thinks better that way (like a sitting fetal position where he feels safe and can focus). Or, it could also be that he likes to throw off whoever he's talking too. Maybe it's just a tactic he uses as apart of his mind games.

L needs more and honestly i think many forget that. Many view l as this sweet, innocent guy, but to be honest, he was a pretty big jerk and thats what makes him for me such a great character. He is considered the world's greatest detective, and is the hero antagonist, of the first arc, in which he takes on kira. Tsugumi ohba, story writer of the series, created l as a force of justice and a super detective who stands L from death note looks like that because he is trying to look like a mystery. He wants people to be curious about him and to try to figure him out.

The strong point of l’s personality is his intelligence; Its only match is light’s quick, deductive thinking. Near was investigating l's battle with kira in the manga. At one point he finds evidence of the entrance ceremony and assumes that it's l.
But he would probably want to confirm it. So the only way to do that would be to ask roger for careful details about l's appearance and check them with people from the entire ceremony. Even though l is almost superhuman in intelligence, try to achieve a broader topic of knowledge. The more you know, the smarter you’ll seem.
