It make him look like he doesn't get out much, witch Fans will know l never went through with it, but there's a variation where he actually does. Many fans don't see the netflix adaptation as canon, either, but it's still an interesting fact worth noting. After 10 years, i've finally decided to watch death note because it's on netflix and my biggest issue with the show so far is l's persistence on identifying light as kira.

Otherwise, his own iq could drop down by 40%. I’m not sure how that really works, but ok. It’s shown a few times in the manga and anime that l doesn’t actually have to slouch or hunch his back. For example, when we first see him meeting the taskforce, he isn’t hunching, just standing slouching his shoulders like any other person with less than great posture.

Who is l in death note?
L, the mastermind behind the investigation of the kira case, is more than just a detective. I think l figured out that if they (the second kira) specifically chose the word shinigami, it probably is real. First of all, please wrap your head around the fact that l understood, from the very beginning (he was a witness and a proof himself) that kira has supernatural abilities. So when he heard shinigami, it was somehow a confirmation.
The massive amount of evidence against light being kira was set up by light to be that way, but l knew/felt that there was still something off and he trusted his instincts. The way i see it, l as a detective knew that the evidence could be manipulated (which it was) and so he relied also on reading the characteristic of the culprit. It seems like l feeds that assumption when you look at him. Even when you see him in person, he's still hiding his truest self.
It's why he's so antisocial and lonely;
His entire existence is guarding secret after secret. It's why he ended up so friendly with lightvery few people ever learned much about l before. Yes it's why there are 2 girls that find them both attractive when light goes to uni. Sure the girls are depicted in a rather insensitive way, as if a girl has to be a nerd to find l attractive for example, but yes even the writer of the story knows people will find l hot. Dude has his feet out in public for fucks sake it ain't even subtle lol The way l sits and all that junk food are just funny habits, right?
It's because death note is mainstream he gets so much attention in comparison to unique individuals from another anime series.
I loved death note, but out of all the animes i've seen l doesn't even make it in my top 10 favorite characters. Honestly i don't even know how okabe makes it in the top 10 of that list. A lot of the death note fandom seems to have this idea of l as an awkward, socially unaware kind of guy, when that's not the case. He's not charming or charismatic, and not great at befriending people,(largely because he has no desire to) but he's great at putting together profiles of them and figuring out how to manipulate them. For what its worth, i like to ignore what the author said because i think it adds to the story if l actually cared about him. I know what the author said, but i really think that l being torn between wanting to be right and wanting to be light's friend adds a really interesting dynamic to the story.
